Dividend Income - May 2017

It's been a long time since I've posted due to my (now) fiance joining me in Chicagoland. Between her moving to my old apartment, her starting a new job, and then us moving closer to the city, it's been a hectic few months.

This month's dividend income came in at $180.41, a 30.9% decrease over 2016's $261.28. Usually you'd expect an increase in dividends but we had to liquidate my fiance's TFSA and non-registered Canadian assets. We are currently in the process of converting her CAD to USD and opening a US brokerage account to invest in. So our dividend income will continue to suffer for a few more months until all the money is reinvested.

The above graph clearly shows our average dividend income slightly drop when I first moved, slowly resuming its rise afterwards, and then drop off even more once she moved.

Dividend changes this month:
  • AAPL raised their quarterly dividend 10.5% from $0.57/share to $0.63/share, increasing our passive income by $12.92.

Dividends in USD are converted to CAD using the monthly average exchange rates from the Bank of Canada.
